You Made It! Happy Spring Break (and a few FAQs as grades start to post next week)

As we near the end of Winter Finals Week, we want to congratulate you on your resilience this quarter as you navigated shifting from remote to in-person instruction and other challenges.

We encourage you to enjoy your well-deserved spring break next week, finding time to rest, relax, safely socialize, and prepare for the Spring 2022 quarter!

As finals conclude and grades begin to post next week, you may have some questions.

1. What if I didn't pass a class in 22W that is a prerequisite for a 22S class?  Students will be dropped from any spring classes for which they no longer meet the prereq due to not passing a necessary class in winter.  If you passed the Lecture but not the Lab (or the Lab but not the Lecture) for any of your classes, you only need to repeat the part you did not pass; please fill out this form for assistance from the CNAS EMC assistance: EMC link

2.  If my academic standing changes to Placed on Probation or Subject to Disqualification after winter grades post, what should I do?  Please note that students on academic action are limited to taking a maximum of 15 units the following term.  If you were in good standing, enrolled in more than 15 units for spring, and are now on academic action due to your winter grades, please be sure to drop classes if necessary to stay under the 15 unit maximum.  Check with your advisor if you have additional questions.

3. What if I didn't get the classes I wanted to for spring?  Once winter grades start posting, additional seats may open up in classes due to students being dropped for not passing the prereq course in winter.  Be sure to continually monitor the schedule of classes, and waitlist for sections if that's an option.  You can start attending classes the first week of the spring quarter even if you're not registered for the class in case you are able to add it within the first 2 weeks and then you won't be behind in the work.

4. Is advising available?  During the week of spring break, advising is still available Monday -Thursday.  Friday, March 25th, is a campus holiday for Cesar Chavez day.  You may see different appointment availability next week due to a UCR staff conference and other meetings, but as always, you can reach out to your advisor by email with questions.

Have a wonderful spring break!
