What's Happening This Week? Finish the Spring Quarter Strong!

We hope your quarter has gone well and that you are looking forward to finishing this Spring 2021 quarter strong!  Please check out the reminders below to make sure you stay on track for a great finish.

1. Quarter withdraws: The deadline to withdraw from individual classes passed in Week 8. However, students still have the opportunity to withdraw from the entire spring term (all classes).  If you are interested in this option, please consider the following:

    a. The deadline is this Friday afternoon, June 4th, 2021.

    b. Reach out to your academic advisor immediately to inquire about this process if you are interested (you can send an email; you do not need to schedule an appointment).

    c. If you withdraw from the entire quarter, each class you are enrolled in will receive a "W" but no letter grade and you will not earn any units for the classes you are currently enrolled in.

    d. If you withdraw from the entire quarter, you do not need to continue attending classes or take the finals.

    e. Could a quarter withdraw impact your financial aid eligibility?  Most likely not for the current spring quarter, but you must directly contact the UCR Financial Aid office to confer with them about any financial aid questions you have about the impact of a quarter withdraw on current or future financial aid eligibility.

2. Registration: We are in the midst of registration for the 2021 Fall quarter.  This early registration is referred to as 1st Pass registration (17 unit maximum). You will have another opportunity in September to make adjustments to your Fall 2021 schedule during 2nd Pass registration.  To facilitate a smooth registration process, please:

    a. Make sure to submit your Fall term plan 4-5 weekdays before your Time Ticket opens

    b. Ensure you have titled your term plan the name of the major you're working toward

    c. Submit a complete term plan with at least 3-4 proposed classes (12+ units)

    d. Double-check that you meet the prerequisites for all proposed courses (e.g. if you haven't successfully completed CHEM 1B/1LB, you should not list CHEM 1C/1LC on your term plan).

    e. IF YOU ARE REPEATING A COURSE but you already passed one part (e.g. you passed CHEM 1LA but not CHEM 1A), you must submit a request for the CNAS Enrollment Management Center to assist you with the special enrollment: CNAS EMC wufoo form

    f. If you are exceeding the 89 unit limit for undeclared students, please be sure that you submitted the petition that your advisor emailed to you.  Delay in submitting the petition will delay registration.

    g. If you are a PEP 101 student in Spring 2021, please be sure you complete all required steps. Missing steps will result in delayed registration.

3. Major Changes: Are you ready to change your major? If you are becoming eligible to declare the major with completion of your spring classes, please schedule a major change appointment with the advisor of the major you wish to declare (if you have already been working with your undeclared advisor to transition to a BCOE major, please submit the major change request link rather than scheduling a major change appointment).  To check if you have met the major change requirements, please review the criteria linked below:

    a. CNAS major change criteria: CNAS majors

    b. CHASS major change criteria: CHASS majors

    c. BCOE major change criteria: BCOE majors

We wish you a wonderful week!
