Is my advisor available for questions? Yes! Read below about how to access advising services

From your undeclared advisors, we hope you had a wonderful holiday weekend in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday!

We are at the start of Week 3 of the Winter 2021 term.  You are likely enrolled in the classes you plan to take this term.  However, you may have some questions about this term, planning for next term, when and how to declare a major, and more.

1. How to communicate with your academic advisor:

    a. Email your academic advisor (check your student profile for their name and email address).  Please allow 1-3 days for a response, as advisors are receiving a high volume of emails.

    b. If you have more complex questions than can be easily asked in an email, you may prefer to schedule a Zoom advising appointment with your advisor. To schedule, please go to MyAdvising and search for your advisor's name to view their availability.  Appointments are typically up to 20 minutes.

        i. In preparation for your appointment, we recommend jotting down the questions you wish to ask during the meeting.

ii. Please be sure to turn on your audio and webcam during the appointment to facilitate communication.

 2. Eligibility to declare a major:  View the CNAS majors page and click on your major of interest. Scroll down and click on the Change of Major criteria tab.  Your earned units + the number of units you're enrolled in this term determine which category of requirements you'll need to meet.  For example, if you have 50 units, you will need to meet Sophomore criteria and complete the listed courses successfully before you exceed a total of 89 units.

3. Be sure to check the UCR Academic Calendar for dates and deadlines regarding dropping and withdrawing from classes this term.

We're here for you, working hard to support you and help you succeed!
