We're Still Here!

Finals Week and the following week can be great times to meet with your advisor.  The wait times for drop in advising are typically shorter than during the quarter, and appointments are more readily available.  Advisors will be here this week (Finals Week), and next week (December 17-21).  Be sure to check the CNAS UAAC website daily (cnasuaac.ucr.edu) for updated scheduling information. Training or other events will be noted if the advising center will have a different schedule.

Topics you could meet with an advisor to discuss:

1. Major Change:  If you are meeting major change criteria during this 18F quarter, you can schedule an appointment with the advisor of the major you wish to declare and fill out the major change form.  The advisor will hold onto your form till 18F grades have posted, verify your eligibility, and approve the major change form, if eligible, to be effective in the 19W quarter.  Major change criteria and major advisor information can be found at the following link:
https://cnasstudent.ucr.edu/majors/

2. Discuss plans for how and when you will be able to declare your desired major in the future and develop a plan to keep you on track.

3. Explore majors of interest if you haven't settled on a major yet, or you're reconsidering your initial desired major.  Your advisor can discuss items to consider and introduce you to various tools and resources to help you find a major that's a great fit for you.  This could include interest in a CNAS major or perhaps a major in CHASS.

4.  Update your advisor on your progress or discuss any difficulties or challenges you have experienced.  This conversation can include discussion of available options, as well as resources that could help you through your challenges.

We wish you the best of luck on your final exams!

Best,
-Katie, Liz, Kia, Johanna, and Denise
