Summer is Here!

From your CNAS undeclared advisors, Denise, Katie, Liz, Johanna, and Kia, we wish you all a wonderful summer.  As you're finishing your finals this week, we hope you have a fantastic summer break planned.  This may include taking some classes to catch up or get ahead, taking a vacation, spending time with family, getting in some additional work hours, research opportunities, studying abroad, etc.

We would like to include a few notes about CNAS advising during summer.

1. The CNAS UAAC is open during summer and advisors are here throughout the summer.
2. Advising availability is limited during the summer.  We are conducting Highlander Orientation for incoming freshmen, as well as working on many additional responsibilities to prepare for the next academic year.
3. No appointments are scheduled during summer.  If you meet with us during drop in hours and  follow up time is needed, we can work with you to schedule a special appointment time.  Please view MyAdvising for our drop in availability.
4. Summer is a great time to take advantage of campus resources which might be more full during the regular academic year.  This includes visiting the Career Center (assessments to determine strengths/skills/interests, internship information, career advising), the Counseling Center (individual counseling with a professional counselor), and Case Management (assistance with a variety of issues which may affect you, such as food or housing insecurity, relationship problems, family concerns, etc.).
5. Remember to take some time for yourself this summer to recharge and rejuvenate so you can return to school refreshed and ready to take the next step on your academic journey.
6. If you are taking classes in summer to complete major change eligibility and you will become eligible for your desired major with completion of a summer class or classes (and you are in Good Standing), you may schedule an appointment with the advisor of the major you wish to declare, once your 2018 summer grades have posted and you meet eligibility.  You DO NOT need to wait for the fall quarter to start to come in and do the major change.
7. Please see the UCR Academic Calendar (a separate tab in this blog) for registration dates and deadlines.

We wish you a safe, healthy summer and look forward to seeing you back at UCR in 2018 Fall!
