Prepare for 2018 Fall Registration- Don't Delay!

Let's start looking ahead to the 2018 Fall quarter!

In order to be approved to register for the next quarter, you must submit your term plan well in advance of when your registration time ticket opens.

Your term plan is your way to communicate with your undeclared advisor to list which classes you plan to take next quarter.  Remember to name your term plan the name of the major you're working toward (even if it's a non-CNAS major)!

Please note that the advising office will be closed because advisors will be attending a conference on Wednesday - Friday, May 23rd - 25th (the office will be open from 10 am - noon on Wednesday, May 23rd).

This means that it's imperative to submit your term plan as soon as possible for 18F.
If your term plan is not submitted by Monday, May 21st, it might not be cleared until the following week, and may delay your registration.

Please keep in mind that Monday, May 28th, is Memorial Day and the campus will be closed.

To see term plan submission details, please refer to a previous blog post from February 08, 2018, titled Registration, with a Hello Spring graphic.

You can view registration dates and deadlines through the UCR Academic Calendar tab on the blog homepage.

Tips to consider:

1. You DO NOT need to submit a term plan for summer.  If you're taking classes at UCR Summer Session, no term plan is required.  If you're taking a math or science class outside of UCR this summer (at a community college or another UC), you MUST submit a purple summer session approval form (contact your advisor for details, or stop in at the front desk of the advising center).

2.  If you are an undeclared student whose earned UCR units + current 18 Spring in-progress units = 90 units or more, you should be receiving an email from your advisor.  This email will provide a link to a tutorial and a copy of a petition you will need to submit in order to request to register for 18F past the undeclared unit limit. (The undeclared unit limit is 89.9).

3. If your term plan is incomplete (it doesn't contain at least 12 units of appropriate courses, your didn't properly name your term plan the name of the major you're working toward, etc.), it will not be approved and may delay your registration.

4. Term plans MUST be submitted before you can be checked in to meet with your advisor, once registration begins.

5. Term plans may not be cleared immediately after you submit them, but rather in the order of when you register.  Your advisor is reviewing several hundred term plans, so please be patient.  We always strive to have your term plan cleared by the time your time ticket opens, although not necessarily far in advance of when your time ticket opens.  An exception to this is if you didn't submit the term plan at least 3-5 business days ahead of your time ticket, or if you didn't submit a complete and accurate term plan for review.

We're excited about your continued studies at UCR in 2018 Fall, and look forward to working with you to achieve your academic goals!
